05Timing

How long does clothing manufacturing take?

A first prototype takes 2–5 weeks. The pre-production sample takes about 15 days from when the fabric arrives, and production 3–6 weeks. Most delays come from changes after the sample is approved, so we lock every comment in writing before production starts.

07Cut and sew

What is a cut and sew manufacturer?

A cut and sew manufacturer, which most people know as a garment or fashion manufacturer, turns fabric into finished garments. We work in both ways, and you can mix them in the same collection.

FabricYou supply the fabric, and the trims if you have them.We source the fabric and the trims for you.

08Private label

Where does your clothing collection start?

Every garment we make is a custom model, made in Italy and sold under your brand. There are two starting points, depending on what you already have.

Whichever route you choose, a dedicated project manager follows the project from brief to delivery.

You already have a tech pack

  1. The right workshopWe choose the Italian workshop that specialises in each garment.
  2. The sampleThe workshop makes the sample from your tech pack, for your review.
  3. ProductionOnce the sample is approved, production starts from 30–50 pieces per style.

You start from an idea, a sketch, or a reference garment

  1. Design and tech packOur team develops the design, technical drawings, and measurements with you.
  2. Pattern and prototypesFit, fabric, and trims are fixed in the prototypes, in 2–5 weeks.
  3. Then productionAfter your approval, the collection is produced under your brand in 3–6 weeks.
09Quality control

How do we check the quality of your clothing?

Production is checked against the sample you approved, at the stages where a problem is cheapest to fix. Your project manager shares the results before the garments leave the workshop.

  1. Check 1

    Fabric

Colour, weight, and defects are checked when the fabric arrives, before cutting.

  2. Check 2

    Cutting and sewing

Pattern pieces, seams, and stitch quality are checked during production.

  3. Check 3

    Fit and measurements

Garments are measured against the approved sample and your size chart.

  4. Check 4

    Finishing and packing

Pressing, labels, and packaging are checked before shipping.

Independent inspection, on request

Quality control is included in every production we run. If you need it, we can add an independent inspection by a certified inspection body, as a paid extra. You can also see the checks yourself during a factory visit.

10Sizes and fit

How do sizes and fit work in a clothing run?

Fit is set on the prototype, then carried across your whole size range. This is where most first collections need help, so we plan it with you from the start.

  1. 1
Fit on the prototypeMade in your sample size and corrected until the fit is right.
  2. 2
GradingThe pattern is graded across your size range, keeping the proportions.
  3. 3
Size chartMeasurements for every size are fixed in writing before production.
  4. 4
Sizes within the minimumSplit the 30–50 pieces across sizes; each colour needs at least 30.

11Quality

How do you find high quality clothing manufacturers in Italy?

High quality clothing manufacturers are not found in a directory. These are the checks we run before a workshop joins our network, and the ones you can run yourself.

Eight checks

  • A sample. Pattern, seams, and finishing.
  • A visit. The floor, the machines, the people.
  • References. Brands at a quality close to yours.
  • Specialisation. One category, done well.
  • Fabric and trims. Where materials come from, how they're checked.
  • Quality control. Every garment against the approved sample.
  • Clear quotes. Sample and prototype costs stated up front.
  • Export experience. Labels, documents, and shipping for your market.

FAQQuestions

Clothing manufacturing FAQ

What is the minimum order for clothing made in Italy?

30–50 pieces per style, with at least 30 pieces per colour. Every product is evaluated on its own, and larger runs lower the price per piece, which tends to drop from about 200–300 pieces per style. You can also order a single prototype on its own, without committing to production.

How much does it cost to manufacture clothing in Italy?

At 30–50 pieces per style, shirts and blouses start from €50 per piece, dresses from €60, and coats and jackets from €80. T-shirts start from €15 at 50 pieces. Every product is quoted on its own: the final price depends on fabric, construction, quantities, and finishes.

What is the difference between CMT and full-package production?

In CMT (cut, make, trim) you supply the fabric and the workshop cuts, sews, and finishes the garments. In full-package production we also source the fabric and the trims. We do both, and the choice can change from one style to another in the same collection.

Which fabrics can I choose?

Cottons, including Pima, Supima, Giza, and Sea Island, poplin, linen, silk, coat and suit wools, cashmere, denim, and lycra for swimwear and activewear. In full package we source the fabric for you; in CMT you supply it. The fabric is the biggest driver of the price per piece, so we choose it with you first.

Where are your clothing factories?

Across Italy: our network covers all of the country's manufacturing districts. The workshop for your project depends on the product, and you can visit it.

Can I visit the factory?

Yes. Every manufacturer is verified before it joins the network, and you can visit the one that makes your clothing and see your production in person. Your project manager organises the visit.

Do I need a tech pack?

It helps, but it's not required. You can start from a reference garment, a sketch, or an idea: our team develops the design, the tech pack, and the pattern with you before sampling.

How long does clothing production take?

A prototype takes 2–5 weeks, the pre-production sample about 15 days from when the fabric arrives, and production 3–6 weeks. Every comment is locked in writing before production starts, because most delays come from late changes.

Do you handle shipping and customs?

Yes. We ship worldwide and manage customs, duties, and labelling requirements with you, so your order arrives without surprises. Your project manager tracks the shipment until it arrives.

Do you offer white label clothing?

No. We don't sell ready-made or white label garments. Every piece we make is a custom model, made in Italy and sold under your brand, starting from your tech pack or from an idea, a sketch, or a reference garment that our team develops with you.

Are you a low MOQ clothing manufacturer?

Our reference is 30–50 pieces per style, which is low for made in Italy production. Each product is evaluated on its own. We don't do print-on-demand or single pieces for sale, but you can order a single prototype on its own to test a design.

Do you make suits or clothing to measure?

No. We produce suits, tailored jackets, and every other garment in series, across your size range, from 30–50 pieces per style. We don't do made-to-measure or bespoke tailoring for single customers.

What should you send for a clothing quote?

Send what you have: your project manager asks for the rest.

  • References or tech pack
  • Quantities per style
  • Target price
  • Delivery date
